Google my business website

Google is shutting down free websites made with google my business profiles

If businesses want to maintain their online presence will need to rebuild their websites using alternative platforms

Websites made with Google Business Profiles will be turned off in March.

Customers who want to access your website will be redirected to your Business Profile until June 10. Google announced that after this date, visitors would see a "page not found" message.

Why do we care?

To guarantee a smooth transition, businesses who wish to preserve their own website need to build a new site using alternative platforms, then update their Business Profile with the new site URL before the deadline.

Alternative tools-

Google suggested using one of the following platforms to build a new website for your business:

  • Wix.
  • Squarespace.
  • GoDaddy.
  • Google Sites.
  • Shopify.
  • WordPress.

What Google is saying-

A Google spokesperson explained:

  • “Domains that end with business.site and negocio.site will be removed from the website field on your Business Profile in March. We recommend that you update your Google Business Profile to point to a new website.”
  • “Websites made with Google Business Profiles are basic websites powered by the information on your Business Profile. In March 2024, websites made with Google Business Profiles will be turned off and customers visiting your site will be redirected to your Business Profile instead. The redirect will work until June 10, 2024.”
